Subheading: During the cold autumn and winter months, the orange sea buckthorn berry protects against colds with its high vitamin C content. This autumn wild fruit is a regional vitamin powerhouse and has also been cultivated in Austria since 2013 in the Styrian SANDICCA® sea buckthorn gardens. The organic sea buckthorn berries and organic sea buckthorn leaves are processed by the young company SANDICCA® into a 7-part detox tea series, valuable sea buckthorn oils and a nourishing natural cosmetics line, which will be launched on the domestic market from October 14.
Sea buckthorn, superfood made in Austria!
Wenigzell – In 2013, planting began on Austria’s first sea buckthorn plantation at an altitude of 860 meters. Sea buckthorn, which originated in Nepal, is now cultivated by the SANDICCA® sea buckthorn gardens across an area of around 2.7 hectares! Around 5,500 plants, all of organic nursery quality, thrive in this unique location.
The list of substances contained in the parts of the sea buckthorn plant is long. Sea buckthorn berries contain an exceptionally high vitamin C content. Depending on the variety, this ranges from 100 to 900 mg per 100 g of pulp. Just a few teaspoons of sea buckthorn juice cover an adult’s daily vitamin C requirement, meaning that this small berry outshines many citrus fruits.
In addition, sea buckthorn berries are rich in vitamin E, the trace elements magnesium, calcium, iron and manganese, and even contain vitamin B12, which is otherwise found only in animal products. This makes sea buckthorn the ideal companion for vegans. Especially in winter, this wild fruit strengthens the immune system and helps combat colds. Sea buckthorn leaves contain an exceptionally high proportion of polyphenols, giving sea buckthorn anti-inflammatory properties as well – a true superfood!
Sea buckthorn harvest in Styria’s Joglland region.
From Saturday, September 16, the bright orange sea buckthorn berries and sea buckthorn leaves will be harvested in the SANDICCA® sea buckthorn gardens. Harvesting this superfood is difficult because the bright orange sea buckthorn berries are protected by the thorns from which they take their name. If handled carelessly, the berries can burst, while the thorns pose a risk of injury. For this reason, the same harvesting method is used in Styria’s Joglland region: the fruit-bearing branches are cut off and deep-frozen. The berries and leaves can then be easily shaken from the branches and stored until further processing.
SANDICCA® – ready for anything. With the primal power of sea buckthorn.
Without realizing it, we humans are exposed to countless attacks on our well-being every day. Stress, for example, releases free radicals in the body and weakens the immune system, while an unhealthy diet leads to digestive problems and excess weight. The sun, which gives life on the one hand but also emits dangerous UV rays, can cause premature skin aging and skin irritation. Sea buckthorn can help support the body’s natural resilience in these situations. It is a gentle guardian of sunlight. A source of pure vitality. And yet also a passionate fighter that rises to every challenge with its numerous thorns. SANDICCA® has captured the versatile nature and exceptional talents of sea buckthorn in a 7-part detox tea series, cold-pressed sea buckthorn oils and a natural cosmetics line that is continuously being developed. Each SANDICCA® product contains the concentrated power of sea buckthorn, which will be available from October 14, 2017 in the WEB shop at www.sandicca.com. SANDICCA® will also soon be available in pharmacies specializing in natural products.
