The name SANDICCA stands for an exquisite variety of teas with an exceptionally high proportion of sea buckthorn berries and sea buckthorn leaves. While the fruits and seeds of sea buckthorn are well known, the use of sea buckthorn leaves is new. Initial studies show that the leaf extracts have great potential and contain, among other things, significant amounts of vitamin E, beta-carotene and PC-8. This is plastochromanol-8, which otherwise only occurs in flaxseed; it is chemically related to vitamin E but has a stronger antioxidant capacity than this. This applies in particular to protecting lipids from oxidation. In trials, sea buckthorn leaf extract has also shown an increase in endurance and an appetite-suppressing effect.
