In general, a distinction is made between dry and oily hair. The causes of oily hair lie in the scalp and the hair roots themselves. Both are equipped with sebaceous glands and produce oil (also known as sebum). This protects the scalp from drying out and keeps the hair supple. Although there is nothing wrong with supple hair, too much sebum production can unfortunately make it look greasy very quickly. Causes of increased oil production can include our genes, a shampoo with too many ingredients, or a diet that is too high in fat.
How quickly hair becomes greasy again also depends on how often it is washed. As illogical as it may sound: the more often it is washed, the greasier it looks. The reason: the sebaceous glands have their own rhythm and produce sebum as needed. You can train your hair to produce less oil. To do this, the sebaceous glands need to be accustomed to a new hair-washing routine. Instead of washing your hair every day, try washing it only every other day. The glands will get used to the new rhythm and automatically produce less oil. This process can be extended until you only need to wash your hair once or twice a week.
As support, you can use our soap for a scalp that becomes greasy quickly . This was specially developed for this purpose and has a lower superfatting level, which supports the adjustment process.
