Utl: From February 20 to March 3, 2018, the sporting event of the year will take place in Amstetten and Winklarn (Lower Austria): the World Championships in ice stock and stock sport. SANDICCA is particularly delighted to accompany Simone Steiner from Wenigzell, the only 22-year-old reigning World Champion in the target team event of ice stock sport.
In her luggage: organic sea buckthorn from home!

Simone Steiner already demonstrated her skills at the 2014 World Championships in Innsbruck, winning gold twice: once in the women’s singles and once in the women’s target event.
Simone’s love of stock sport began when she was a small child. Her parents, themselves passionate ice stock athletes, took Simone and her brother to the ice rink from an early age. When a youth team was founded in Wenigzell, regular training began, along with participation in championships.

For Simone Steiner, ice stock sport is a very special sport and a passionate hobby. “You can travel a lot and get to know many people and make new friends,” says Simone happily. It also strengthens her mentally, and ice stock and stock sport bring people together. You have to pull together to be successful.

Ice stock sport, or its precursors, presumably came from Scandinavia in the 13th century.
Originally, people played with wooden ice stocks, later with metal ones featuring interchangeable wooden running soles. Today’s ice stock consists of a plastic body surrounded by a stainless-steel ring. A wooden cube (“Haserl” = target) was originally used as the target; today, the target is a ring made of hard rubber.
The first European Championships were held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (Germany) in 1951. The first Ice Stock World Championships took place in Frankfurt am Main (Germany) in 1983. In 2018, the 12th World Championships will already be held.

Ready for anything – outdoors and in the ice arena

Simone Steiner also relies on a strong local ally: sea buckthorn (Hippophae rhamnoides). At first glance, the rather inconspicuous shrub reveals itself as a dazzling star when it comes to health. Its leaves and orange berries are true multitaskers and prove ready for any challenge. With its high vitamin C content, sea buckthorn supports the immune system, protects and regenerates the skin, and promotes performance with vitamin B12, known as the energy vitamin.

And the best part: this superplant does not grow in some remote region of the world, but practically right outside Simone Steiner’s front door – in the Styrian Joglland region – in Wenigzell.
The Austrian company SANDICCA was the first to plant it at an altitude of 840 metres in accordance with strict organic guidelines and has processed the harvest into high-quality sea buckthorn detox teas, valuable cold-pressed virgin sea buckthorn pulp oils, and nourishing natural soaps – naturally without artificial preservatives and entirely organic. Each SANDICCA product contains the concentrated power of sea buckthorn, either in its pure form or combined with exquisite natural ingredients. The healthy armada from SANDICCA goes by resounding names such as AMALINTA – protective power, VALESKA – lively spirit, and ARLINA – gentle beauty.

All these supporters of greater resilience have their own distinct character. And each one is suited to a very specific task. Available from the company’s own online shop at www.sandicca.com, selected pharmacies, and specialty stores.

SANDICCA wishes Simone Steiner a successful 2018 World Championship.

SANDICCA: The Styrian company SANDICCA was founded in 2017 by Ing. Tanja Kroisleitner. On approximately 2.7 hectares of cultivation area, around 5,500 organically grown sea buckthorn shrubs thrive in the Styrian SANDICCA sea buckthorn gardens. Originally from Nepal, sea buckthorn is now considered an attractive superfood. In 2017, 2.3 tonnes of sea buckthorn berries were harvested for the first time. SANDICCA therefore has Austria’s only sea buckthorn cultivation and is looking for farmers for organic contract farming.
